In case anyone is wondering, the reason I have suddenly stopped uploading my photo-a-day entries is this. I just started my new semester at college, and at my dorm, I have a Verizon High Speed Internet DSL connection.
It broke. Well, it's always broken. Verizon is really very dreadful. I wish in my heart of hearts that my fucking dorm would allow me to buy (yes, buy, as in they don't even provide us internet access,) ANY service other than Verizon.
My payments were a week late. I got on their website and paid it off, and now "I need a modem replacement." What? What the fuck? Why!? What makes the modem break 3 hours after you take $85 out of my bank account?
"My modem isn't working."
"Thank you for that information sir."
"I read that this happens to some people, so could you deactivate and reactivate my account completely?"
"Sir I don't think that's necessary. My system shows that your internet connection is working normally."
"No-- No, it isn't working at all. I know my way around modems and routers and the problem is not the modem or the router. The problem is on your end."
"Thank you for that information, sir. It may be a problem with the main line to your building."
"No, it isn't. The people in the room next to me have your DSL and their internet works fine."
"Thank you for that information, sir. Sir it may just be a faulty modem. We can ship you a replacement modem for a one-time fee of $50."
"No, it was working a few hours ago, and now it doesn't work at all. It worked until I paid my late fee. Then it broke."
"Thank you for that information sir. It may be a faulty modem."
"..."
It went on from there. I'm writing this on the slow, SLOW free wireless that the Borders near my school provides. I've tried uploading my photo-a-day entries with it, but it always drops the connection before I can get the picture completely uploaded. It'll have to wait until I either have my DSL fixed, or I go home next weekend.
